Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months, and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character.”

ALOHA! TEAM BATTLES CAL SOUTH CHAMP IN QUARTERFINAL 6/20/08:
Regional Results
Only Utah boys team to advance to the playoff rounds. In the must win match, the team was pitted against Cal South State and reigning region Champion West Coast FC. Strong winds made ball movement challenging. West Coast scored 2 first half goals to go into half with a 2-0 advantage. The second half was all Sparta. Winston scored to pull the team within one goal. Despite the strong Sparta attack the team could not convert its opportunities and were eliminated 2-1....GO SPARTA!!!

ALOHA! TEAM SPENDS OFF-DAY AT PEARL HARBOR AND POLYNESIAN CULTURAL CENTER 6/19/08:
Pearl Harbor & PCC Photos
The team had an opportunity on the Regional off-day to visit historical and cultural sites on the Island. Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center were stops the team along with the Utah delegation made today. It was fun to see friends and coaches from other Sparta teams and Utah clubs at the sites. The USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor not far from the playing fields provided a great and moving US historical journey. The PCC at Laie on the North shore was a fun, hands-on, cultural learning experience for the boys and families as it visited authentic polynesian villages, ate at a polynesian luau, and capped off the day at the Horizons show. Overall a great non-soccer experience for the team and families.....GO SPARTA!!!

ALOHA! TEAM DROPS MATCH TO FAR WEST LEAGUE CHAMP IN ROUND 3 6/18/08:
Regional Results
Despite starting strong and outplaying Arsenal from Cal South the team drop a hotly contested match with the Far West Leauge Spring champion. Zach drilled a shot into goal to put the team up 1-0 early. However, the team would endure pressure from the Cal South side conceding 2 goals before half. Jerry picked up a red card ejection late in the first half meaning the team would play down a man in the second half. Arsenal was awarded and converted a penalty kick in the second and despite many opportunities the team came up short 3-1....GO SPARTA!!!

ALOHA! TEAM DISPATCHES WYOMING STATE CHAMP IN ROUND 2 WIN 6/17/08:

Camree added another clean sheet in the 3-0 win. The 2 wins puts the team through to the quarterfinals....GO SPARTA!!!
