2008 STATE CUP CHAMPIONS 2006 STATE CUP CHAMPIONS JAMES SELECTED TO US U15 NATIONAL TEAM US U15 National Team Photos of James in Florida CAMREE AND JAMES NAMED TO REAL U17 MLS SUM U17 CUP TEAM 6/28/08: RSL Announcement 2008 MLS U17 SUM Cup RSL 2008 U17 SUM CUP Team Camree and James were selected as part of the traveling Real Development team to represent RSL at the 2008 U17 MLS SUM Cup tournament to be held at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Denver, Colorado. Camree and James are part of RSL Utah joining the RSL Arizona selections for this side. The tournament features 14 different youth teams of Major League Soccer clubs in action in this national tournament July 5-8. Winners will play in Spain, other top finishers will play in 2009 Dallas Cup. Good job boys....GO SPARTA!!! ALOHA! TEAM BATTLES CAL SOUTH CHAMP IN QUARTERFINAL 6/20/08: Regional Results Only Utah boys team to advance to the playoff rounds. In the must win match, the team was pitted against Cal South State and reigning region Champion West Coast FC. Strong winds made ball movement challenging. West Coast scored 2 first half goals to go into half with a 2-0 advantage. The second half was all Sparta. Winston scored to pull the team within one goal. Despite the strong Sparta attack the team could not convert its opportunities and were eliminated 2-1....GO SPARTA!!! ALOHA! TEAM SPENDS OFF-DAY AT PEARL HARBOR AND POLYNESIAN CULTURAL CENTER 6/19/08: Pearl Harbor & PCC Photos The team had an opportunity on the Regional off-day to visit historical and cultural sites on the Island. Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center were stops the team along with the Utah delegation made today. It was fun to see friends and coaches from other Sparta teams and Utah clubs at the sites. The USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor not far from the playing fields provided a great and moving US historical journey. The PCC at Laie on the North shore was a fun, hands-on, cultural learning experience for the boys and families as it visited authentic polynesian villages, ate at a polynesian luau, and capped off the day at the Horizons show. Overall a great non-soccer experience for the team and families.....GO SPARTA!!! ALOHA! TEAM DROPS MATCH TO FAR WEST LEAGUE CHAMP IN ROUND 3 6/18/08: Regional Results Despite starting strong and outplaying Arsenal from Cal South the team drop a hotly contested match with the Far West Leauge Spring champion. Zach drilled a shot into goal to put the team up 1-0 early. However, the team would endure pressure from the Cal South side conceding 2 goals before half. Jerry picked up a red card ejection late in the first half meaning the team would play down a man in the second half. Arsenal was awarded and converted a penalty kick in the second and despite many opportunities the team came up short 3-1....GO SPARTA!!! ALOHA! TEAM DISPATCHES WYOMING STATE CHAMP IN ROUND 2 WIN 6/17/08: Regional Results The boys started out strong again in the 2nd group match against the Laramie Blizzard scoring 2 first half goals (James and Winston). The team would add another goal in the second half (Winston). Camree added another clean sheet in the 3-0 win. The 2 wins puts the team through to the quarterfinals....GO SPARTA!!! ALOHA! GOOD TEAM PLAY LEADS TO ROUND 1 WIN OVER ARIZONA STATE CHAMP 6/16/08: USYOUTHSOCCER Report The team played a great match winning 2-0 this morning. Needing to pick-up the victory, the team domimated the Arizona state Champ (3-of-the-last-4 years) Gilbert Arsenal 93 Premier from start to finish in the 8:00 AM Hawaiian time match. James scored both goals, one in each half and Camree picked up the clean sheet. Get rest and prepare for round 2 tomorrow against the Wyoming State champ!
